Here is a quick side by side of both the “14k White Gold 2mm Knife Edge Solitaire Engagement ring” and the “14k White Gold 1.5mm Comfort Fit Engagement Ring” from James Allen.
—KNIFE EDGE—
The knife edge setting is about $200 cheaper, which gives you a bigger budget for your diamond. The 4 prongs holding the diamond are also noticeably smaller than the comfort fit band. In terms of comfort while wearing the ring my fiancée said she though it was plenty comfortable, but not quite as comfortable as the “comfort fit.”
—COMFORT FIT—
The comfort fit is a bit more expensive, but is a thicker and stronger looking ring overall. The four prongs holding the diamond are thicker and more noticeable when looking at the diamond. My fiancée said the ring feels more comfortable overall and prefers it over the knife edge if given the choice.
