Imagine living with a condition that you didn’t even know existed. That was the reality for Lauren, who was diagnosed with PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal disorder that affects millions of women worldwide. One of the symptoms of PCOS is excessive facial hair, which Lauren had to deal with since she was a teenager.
Lauren said that telling people about PCOS was not easy, because many people didn’t understand what it was or how it affected her. She said that wearing a mask during the pandemic actually helped her feel less self-conscious about her facial hair.
But Lauren didn’t let PCOS define her. She learned to accept herself and embrace her uniqueness. She also realized that she was not alone, and that there were many other women who faced the same challenges as her. She decided to share her story with us, hoping to raise awareness and inspire others who have PCOS.
It’s okay. It’s normal. It’s just not talk about enough.
Lauren, we thank you for your courage and honesty. You are a beautiful and strong woman, and we admire you for your positive attitude.
